Verimatrix Promotes 3-Dimensional Digital Rights Management at Digital Hollywood Spring 2008

I’m grounded this Spring and have not made it to any of the major trade shows, but it sounds like I’m not missing too much. Reports from MIP were of lousy weather and a flat event – with commissioning editors especially absent; distribution deals were the order of the day as everyone chases ever smaller pieces of the same pie. It’s high time the MIP market was put online and saved everyone bad hangovers and ludicrous hotel bills.
This week it’s NAB and my colleagues at Peer TV can be found on Stand C463 in the Central Hall. Check out their set top box and MX gateway product that allows any IPTV provider to add services like YouTube to their service. I believe that the time has come for a ‘YouTube box’ and Peer TV provides this functionality.
I always found NAB to be a very technical show, with lots of influencers but few decision makers; with the current emphasis on content, I expect this state will persist. Despite the hundreds of events for TV over IP and IPTV there remains a gap in the market for a forum that brings together the commercial, technical and editorial facets of our industry.
