HTC Desire and Smart now available on O2

O2 is flogging two new HTC phones, the much praised Desire, and the Smart.

It’s the last network to stock the HTC Desire, the high-end smartphone which is much like Google’s Nexus One.

The Desire boasts a 3.7 inch AMOLED touchscreen, 5 megapixel camera, and a 1GHz processor running Android 2.1.

If you want the handset for free, then you’ll need to fork out £40 per month on an 18 month contract.

If you want to cut that monthly fee down, you can pay either £50 or £100 for the phone, and then a monthly rate of £35 or £30 respectively.

All plans come with unlimited texts and Internet, though with the £40 per month tariff you get 600 minutes, 300 minutes with the £35 one, and just 100 minutes if you elect for the £30 per month option.

The HTC Smart is, as O2 puts it, an “affordable and easy-to-use smartphone, offering easy-to-use widgets, browsing and connectivity at an affordable price.”

So, we’re guessing it’s pretty easy-to-use. Hardware-wise, it’s kitted out with a 2.8 inch touchscreen, a 3 megapixel camera, 256MB of storage, an FM radio and bluetooth (but no wi-fi).

The Smart comes free on an 18 month tariff starting at as little as £15 per month (with 50 minutes and unlimited texts).

Both HTC phones are available now – head on over to the O2 shop if you fancy placing an order.
