KIT
digital
is developing and adapting its forthcoming next generation “VX-one” IP
video management platform to include the optimized delivery of IP video to tablet
computers.

The move comes as KIT digital has seen the types of devices which its clients’ end-users
are watching video on increase 95 percent, from 190 in 2008 to 370 in 2010.

The new Network Services module of the upcoming release of “VX-one” will offer the
ability to deliver the highest quality live content and Video on Demand content to
devices with a smaller footprint.

Using KIT digital’s content management and content publishing solutions via “VX-one,”
network operators, content owners and content distributors will be able to ensure
that future users of tablet devices will benefit from the company’s ability to deliver
high quality content to any device, anywhere.

KIT digital’s new platform, “VX-one” (originally referred to under the working title
“VX2”), is built upon the success of “KIT VX,” the industry’s first truly end–to-end
platform for ingesting, managing and publishing IP-video to the three screens (computer
browser, mobile handset, and IPTV-enabled television set). The new platform will be
progressively rolled out to new and existing clients during the second quarter of
2010 and the company intends to fully deploy “VX-one” across its global client set
by the third quarter of 2010.

“VX-one” will feature several upgrades to the current “KIT VX” platform and brand
new elements including: modern enterprise architecture, enhanced content management,
an augmented playback experience relating to advertising and interactive user engagement
tools as well as a recommendation engine and advanced reporting capabilities.

Blockbuster and ActiveVideo announce
an agreement that is designed to enhance the consumer VOD and EST experience of the
BLOCKBUSTER On Demand movie service across multiple connected platforms.

This relationship is intended to leverage the core products of both companies including
the extensive library of BLOCKBUSTER On Demand content by combining Blockbuster digital
assets with the ability of ActiveVideo to process Web-based user interface in the
network “cloud” — the relationship creates a superior digital cinema experience in
the home. Viewers will be able to search, find and view titles of interest by incorporating
previews and trailers, as well as Web-based search and recommendation capabilities.

Because the ActiveVideo CloudTV platform can enable rich user interfaces to any digital
set-top box or broadband connected CE device, the Blockbuster UI being developed by
ActiveVideo can serve as a gateway to BLOCKBUSTER On Demand services that are currently
being deployed.
