Digital TV for the Channel Islands

As the digital switchover works its way around the UK, some of the more fringe areas such as the Channel Islands, are being visited by the people from the digital switchover help scheme, who are on hand to help out those people eligible for assistance under the scheme.

Currently the scheme will assist people over seventy five or those with a disability.

In most cases they will receive a letter informing them of the changes that are about to happen and how they can be helped.

On the 17th November all analogue signals on the islands will come to and end and this means that all household will need some sort of digital TV equipment such as Freeview or Freesat.

Digital UK at The Open

As the teams responsible for the digital switchover in the UK work their way around the country, the organisation behind the scheme, Digital UK, has been taking up every opportunity to get the word out.

As parts of Scotland prepare for the digital switchover, Digital UK visited St Andrews, where the Open golf tournament was taking place.

The idea behind this visit was to remind residents that the switchover is taking place and what they should do to prepare for it.

Residents in Angus, Perth and Dundee are next on the list as the switchover begin there on the 4th August.

Warning message are being aired on the analogue channels but after the 18th August the analogue TV signal will be switched off permanently.
