Virgin Media has announced some healthy second quarter fiscal figures for 2010.
For the quarter ending June 30th, the company reported that total revenue was up to £964 million, within touching distance of the magic billion mark.
That figure was up 7.1% and represented the strongest growth for the firm in four years, with the company singling out the performance in its mobile and business divisions.
Virgin also reported that its operating income had increased from £9 million to £80 million. Furthermore, the company said it was experiencing continued success with its bundling strategy, seeing triple-play penetration increase to 62%, and quad-play to just over 11%.
While analysts were expecting Virgin to shed customers this quarter, the opposite happened, with 9,100 new subscribers being recorded.
CEO of Virgin Media, Neil Berkett, commented: “A growing base of customers, combined with increased ARPU and improvements in Business and Mobile revenues, drove strong revenue growth and a double digit year-on-year percentage increase in OCF for the third successive quarter.”
“This performance was driven by our ability to offer households and businesses an increasingly differentiated range of digital services. Going forward, we’ll continue to differentiate our propositions by proactively exploiting the advantages of our network and our mobile capability.”
