BSkyB negotiating with Arabic news channel

It is reported that BSkyB is currently in talks with an Arabic language news provider with a view to launching the twenty four hour news channel in Arabic under the Sky News banner.

The talks are being held with an investor from Abu Dhabi who will run the channel on a 50 – 50 share basis.

The channel will cover the Middle East and north Africa, while competing with the already established news providers such as Al Arabiya, Al Jazeera and BBC Arabic.

BSkyB has dded Al Jazeera to its channel line up recently, so this could be BSkyB’s new market for the future, with new channels starting up covering the region it is only natural that BSkyB is getting in on the act.
