Phorm in BT’s side

Phorm is an issue that simply will not leave BT alone.

It has been three or four years since BT and Phorm conducted trials on the internet service provider’s customers’ internet surfing habits, but without their knowledge.

Despite there being a huge anti Phorm campaign by customers and other concerned internet users, investigations by the City of London Police have gone nowhere.

In fact the case is still with the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), which according to ispreview.co.uk is still assessing the case.

The Phorm issue is not going away for either BT or the government.

In fact, the EU is still pressing the government for details on these secret trials and while Phorm is still around, most of the UK ISP’s are keeping its targeted advertising system at arm’s length.

10% watch BBC iPlayer via PS3

The BBC claims that about 10% of all the shows that are viewed on its iPlayer platform are watched using the PlayStation3 gaming console.
This seems like a high percentage, however as most gaming consoles are usually located in children’s bedrooms, it does seem logical the kids are logging on.

IPTV revenues set to quadruple by 2012

Global subscriptions to internet Protocol television (IPTV) are set to hit 19.6 million by the end of this year, up 64.1% compared to 2007.
New research by Gartner projects IPTV revenues for 2008 to hit $4.5 billion.
